US #6 XC Wins Bowdoin Class

The boys won the prestigious Bowdoin Classic.

Wappingers Falls, NY - The CBA XC team returned to overnight travel with the annual trip to Bowdoin Park. The Bowdoin Classic is always a great test with several ranked teams. The boys were up against US #10 Union Catholic and US #28 Corning of NY. Westfield and Haddonfield, NJ #3 and #4 respectively, were in the other race.

The boys took on an aggressive race plan. Nick Sullivan '23, Jack Falkowski '24 and Joe Barrett '25 were with the leader early. Jimmy Wischusen (UC '24), a nationally ranked athlete led most of the race, and pulled the CBA trio most of the way. Lucas Ward '23, Alex Kemp '24, Zach Shroba '23 and Ryan Schmitt '25 sat back in the pack early. As the race progressed, we attacked and finished well.

In the end, Sullivan led our pack to an outstanding 2nd place and a #5 All Time for CBA on Bowdoin's difficult layout. Barrett's 4th place and 16:07 is the 4th fastest time for a NJ sophomore at Bowdoin. In front of him are CBA's Blaise Ferro, Joe Rosa of West Windsor North and the many time NCAA Champion Edward Chersek of St. Benedicts. Behind Sullivan and Barrett, Ward, Kemp, Falkowski, Shroba and Schmitt ran stunning personal bests. The boys placed 7 before 2nd place Union Catholic's 3rd man. The 5 man average is the 4th best in CBA history and the 3rd best in September.

In the JV race, Matt Mastroly '23 and brother Alex '25 led a 1-2-3 finish and a big victory. Matt and Alex fought each other to the line in exciting fashion. Conor Clifford '24, Kevin Allen '23 and Will DeMarco '24 finished out our scoring. The JV's team time would have placed them 10th overall in the varsity sections of this prestigious event.

Next up for the Colts is the Shore Coaches. Our second seven will take on the A Race!
